As overlanders, explorers, and adventurers we are always looking for gear that is not only cool but still useful. From camera gear to cooking gear we look at some of the gear that you might want to add to your Christmas list.

1: DJI Phantom II Vision+
$1099@Amazon
I chose this product because it has a cool factor of 10 and is also capable of getting some amazing footage of your trips. While the learning curve is quite steep, this flying machine is supposed to be one of the easiest to learn to fly.

2: GoPro Hero 4 Black
$499.99@Adorama
Since I listed the DJI Phantom above I have to add the newest from GoPro. The Hero 4 Black is a go any were do anything camera and whats better is it is capable of 4k video and time lapse at the same time. hook it up to a drone and have a lot of fun with this one while taking your video skills to the next level.

3: Highlands Deck Chair - By Blue Ridge Chair
$161 @ blueridgechair.com
During the Overland Expo in North Carolina this year, I had a chance to sit in and discuss the chairs that this company makes and while they might seem a little expensive for a deck/camping chair i can tell you that I have never sat in a chair so well made, or so comfortable.

4: (EO)2 Fastener Top and Bottom Rail
$79.99 7in Top Rail w/ Lock @eo2fastener.com
$49.99 12.75 Bottom Rail
Beau Johnston has been using this product and loves it for fast packing and securing items to his vehicle. Fast, Secure, Safe leaving room for other necessities inside your ride. Put one on your wall and keep gear off the ground. Plenty of uses for this product.

5: DeLorme inReach SE
$262.72 @ Amazon
I am including this product to the list this year because it is not only a life saver but also has the ability to keep you connected. The InReach has won several awards and is recommended by several prestigious outdoor organizations and magazines.

6: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX100 III
$798.00 @ Adorama
It is often said that the best camera is the one that is on you and I personally have found that to be true. Sure the advances in cell phones has come a long way but if you are as picky as myself over the images you choose to show, and a DSLR is just not going to cut it for that coming adventure, Sony has the answer with this pocket sized camera.

7: Joby GripTight GorillaPod Stand
$15.75 @ Adorama
Wrap it around a tree limb, use it to get a new perspective on a scene, or as a way to get that perfect selfie. Then just toss it in your backpack and be on your way. This little mighty pod can do it all.

8: WD My Passport Slim Metal 2TB External Hard Drive
$141.25 @ Amazon
This is one of those self explanatory gifts in my opinion. Have the back up for all of your precious images no matter where you are.

9: Breakthrough Photography Filters
$39-$350 breakthrough.photography
So as a photographer I am always after products that make my life easier. I am also a photographer that like to use select filters on my cameras such as ND and Polarizing filters. I have on more than one occasion had filters get temporarily stuck on my camera lenses. Breakthrough Photography has come out with some cool filters for just that issue. Still in their beginning stages I can see this company going far, check them out.
