Beau's Thoughts:
To say I am picky about smartphone cases is an understatement. It is not uncommon for me to be climbing up and down ladders all day at work and then meet friends and family at the local pub for a drink after I get off. I want a phone case that functions well in both venues, something that can help my phone survive a serious tumble and yet still looks sleek enough to not stand out when I pull the phone out of my back pocket to sit down for dinner.

Until recently, I have not been impressed with the phone cases available on the market as most are big, bulky behemoths or thin, not offering any drop protection. I must say I was apprehensive when Urban Armor Gear offered to send me on of their cases to try.  The case, which is offered in a multitude of colors denoted by the different model names, looked good and meets the military drop-test standards but could it really be the solution I was looking for?
I doubted a sleek phone case could withstand the rigors of travel, life on a construction site, and still be pleasing to look at BUT I can honestly say the case has exceeded my expectations. The combination of hard outer shell and soft corners and core has kept my phone damage free for the last six months.  It has survived multiple drops, the tallest of which was a tumble down the hardwood stairs after I bumped the phone off of the handrail at the top.

The hard outer shell has done a great job protecting the phone from scratches.  If you look closely to the top photo, you will see a few scratches in the case.  I typically carry my phone in the leg pocket of my work pants, with the screen facing my leg. I have occasionally bumped into sharp objects as I call around equipment and the case has kept my phone, and leg, safe from harm.

Conclusion:
I am really thankful UAG sent me their case to test. I have had the opportunity to test a few other cases for the S5 in the last six months; I keep coming back to the AUG. Based on my experience, I would recommend the Urban Armor Gear products to anyone looking for a sleek and stylish smartphone case that is capable of handling the demands of everyday life.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I was given the equipment used in this review in consideration for review publication.
